Budgewoi is a small resort village situated between Munmorah and Budgewoi lakes.

Budgewoi is a tranquil fishing location also offering picnic areas, safe swimming and surfing beaches.

Budgewoi was officially named in 1868. According to the town entry sign, Budgewoi is an Aboriginal word meaning "Meeting of Two Waters".

Brief History:-

1827 - 640 acre grant offered to John Slade who named the area "PUDGEWAY"

1841 - Actual grant allocated to Robert Henderson who renamed it "Budgeway"

1856 - Edward Hargraves purchased Henderson Holdings and built "Norahville" He befriended the Wollombi Aboriginal Tribe with many working on the property. Hargraves leased 600 acres to Elizabeth Bay , Budgewoi and Buff Point where he grazed cattle.

1868 - Officially named Budgewoi.

1903 - Lighthouse built at Norah Head after many vessels were wrecked in the area.
