Tuggerah Lakes was actually discovered as early as 1797 when searching for escaped convict "Molly (Mary) Morgan". On searching for Molly north of the Hawkesbury River, it was written in the search report that they came across a lagoon around 20 miles long parallel with the sea coast. It can be assumed that the lagoon is in fact what is now known as Tuggerah Lakes .
Today Tuggerah is rapidly growing to rival major Sydney regional centres such as Chatswood, Parramatta, Burwood and the Macquarie Centre.
New business parks close to modern housing estates makes Tuggerah the fastest growing area within the Central Coast with an expected 100,000 new residents anticipated within the next ten years.
Attractions
Tuggerah's proximity to the F3 freeway and spectacular surfing beaches makes Tuggerah the perfect alternative and is guaranteed to attract new residents looking for a lifestyle change.
The new Westfield Shopping Centre opened in 1995 with major plans for future developments. Major retailers in the centre include David Jones, Target, Big W, Best & Less, Woolworths, Coles and Greater Union 8 Cinema Complex.
