The last thing you would expect to happen at the age of 20 is to have a stroke. It may strike older people more often, however stroke can happen at any age and its impact on lives can be profound. Those living on the Central Coast can also be the most affected by the burden of stroke.

Stroke is a common disease and a leading cause of death. In fact, every ten minutes an Australian will have a stroke and one in every six Australians will have a stroke in their lifetime.

Until today a stroke was something most would not expect until it strikes. However, those who get early treatment for stroke have a much better prognosis. So how do you recognise if you are at risk of having a stroke?

For the first time ever, Amcal Tuggerah Pharmacy is running a free 20 minute Stroke Check service instore for customers. The Stroke Check is ultrasound based technology used to assess patients at risk of stroke by reviewing the presence of plaque and blood flow through major arteries.

A simple test, at no cost, might just be the stroke of luck you need to unburden the family.

Amcal Tuggerah is taking bookings today for February 17th and March 16th from 10am to 4pm. The free non-invasive test is part of Amcal Tuggerah’s commitment to lead the way in health professional services, much like their Kidney Checks, Coeliac Tests and HBA1C Diabetes Test.

Cecilia Vu, Amcal Pharmacist, describes the Stroke Check as, “the best use of 20 minutes to save yourself and your family of unwanted heartache. We strongly believe everyone should get checked to avoid what you don’t know.”

On hearing about the Stroke Check Day our local Wyong MP, Mr David Robert Harris, has booked in to assess his health on Friday 17th at 12pm to prevent his risk of having a stroke.

You can call 43535211 to make your Stroke Check booking today at Amcal Tuggerah Pharmacy.
