Looking for a rewarding, relaxing hobby that helps you connect with nature and one that you can do at home?
Have a look at bonsai, an ancient Japanese art form where you can slow down, step back and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Growing Australian natives as bonsai is becoming popular and varieties such as figs, lilli pillies, tea trees and even gums are a great place to start.
The Central Coast Bonsai Club are holding their Annual Exhibition and Bonsai Open at Mingara Recreation Club on March 22nd and 23rd. The Bonsai Open offers serious prize money and is open to any Australian bonsai artist and attracts amazing entries from across eastern seaboard.
On display will be approximately 120 bonsai trees. There will be demonstrations across the weekend from some of the country’s finest bonsai artists, as well as vendors selling mature bonsai trees and starters, handmade pots, antique pots, bonsai tools, bonsai potting substrates and a wide range of bonsai-related items.
The Exhibition will be held at Mingara Recreation Club, Tumbi Umbi on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2025, from 9am - 5pm Saturday and 9am – 4 pm Sunday. Entry is $10 for adults and children are free.
