If you have a soft spot for bonsai or already have a collection of bonsai in your backyard then don’t miss the Bonsai Open. On display will be approximately 140 bonsai trees, many from the Central Coast Club and some from as far away as Canberra and Port Macquarie.
This will be the fourth Bonsai Open and with over $5000 in prizes there will be hot competition amongst Australia’s top bonsai artists to win the ‘crown’. In 2023 the standard of trees on display was exceptional.
The Bonsai Open is one of Australia' biggest bonsai exhibitions.
There will be demonstrations on growing and styling bonsai across the weekend from some of the country’s finest bonsai artists including Scott Martin, Andrew Edge, Hugh Grant and Alan Harding - Penjing artist.
In the sales area you can purchase bonsai tools, handmade pots, advanced bonsai and starter plants, potting substrates and just about anything bonsai related.
Bonsai is a wonderful hobby and the interest in bonsai continues to grow, both in Australia and overseas. You don’t need a lot of space to enjoy growing a few bonsai and you can buy a young bonsai for very little money or choose to spend hundreds of a mature tree to start you down the very addictive path of becoming a bonsai enthusiast.
