Wamberal and North Entrance Coastal Remediation Works Continue
At North Entrance basalt continues to be placed between Karagi Reserve Car Park and North Entrance Surf Club. Rock placement works are focussed along the middle sections of the toe protection structure. Sand continues to be placed at the bottom of the scarp in preparation for the laying of a geo-fabric, which helps to stop sand from washing away.
At Wamberal rock bag placement works have progressed well and continue to move North, with the focus being to reinforce the protection works at the base of the escarpment (toe). Rock armour protection and sand scraping / backfilling works (behind the protection wall) continue to be conducted when the tides allows. A crane is in use to conduct rock bag placement works and Ocean View Drive remains closed.
Traffic Management is in place at Ocean View Drive including a 40km/hr speed limit and a detour available via Lake View Road and Dover Road northbound and Renown Street and Lake View Road southbound. Motorists are advised to take care when travelling in the area and to use alternate routes including via Willoughby Road.
