Vaccination Clinic gets green light
The Vaccination Clinic will be operating from the same grounds as their COVID-19 Respiratory Clinic, at EV Church in Erina. COVID-19 testing will be delivered through a drive through service, with vaccinations being conducted from the existing clinic rooms. Having clinic services delivered in this way will ensure community safety by reduce the risk of infection occurring between people coming to be vaccinated and people coming to be tested for COVID-19.
Coast & Country Primary Care’s Vaccination Clinic will be one of the largest in Australia; providing over 1,500 vaccinations to local residents each week. With the Government’s staged approach to the Vaccine rollout, the clinic will initially be providing vaccine’s to those eligible in category 1b, which includes older people, health care workers, people with an underlying medical condition, and high risk workers including police, fire, and emergency services. For full information on who is eligible to receive a vaccination under Phase 1b of the rollout, the Federal Government has released an eligibility checker available on the Department of Health website. Government advice is that vaccinations are not mandatory, although are highly recommended to help reduce the impact of the pandemic.
“We are working with the Government to release bookings for the vaccination clinic to ensure that the appropriate people are able to access the vaccination as per the Federal governments rollout. Our highly skilled nurses, midwives, GPs, paramedics, and administration staff have recently undergone training to ensure we provide a safe and effective vaccination service for the community,” says Coast & Country Primary Care’s Executive Manager of Primary Health, David McLeod.
Based on current advice, two doses of the vaccine are needed to complete the vaccine schedule. The clinic will be able to provide both doses of the vaccination to eligible people, with doses administered approximately 12 weeks apart. Peak efficacy is reached approximately 7 days after receiving the second dose.
Coast & Country Primary Care is stressing the importance of people in the community to continue being tested for COVID-19 if they have symptoms. “Now is not the time for the community to get complacent. If you have flu-like symptoms, get tested,” says Michelle Bradbury, CEO.
