School Holidays Rainbow Youth Activities

Naughty Noodle have kicked off the end of the school holidays presenting two fun, free & vibrant activities for LBGTIQA+ Teens and their friends, family across the North & South side of the Coast.

Starting off with a Vogue dance workshop in Wyong this Thursday and closing off with a Teen Dance in Umina Beach the event is proudly partnering with the State Government (Office for Regional Youth,) PCYC, Headspace, GNL, the Community hair Project and The Y to a very grateful and excited alliance of families, teens, organisations and Youth advocates all aware of the long time gap on the Central Coast for rainbow teens.

“The state and local NGO level support from Youth experts and connectors across the region highlights not only how isolating the reality has been on the Coast for our LGBTIQA+  youth but also sets a new bar for a better time in which kids can all get together to make new friends, be your authentic selves & start to shine.”

Thursday 21st April in Wyong we have one of Australia’s most infamous Vogue houses “House of Silky” come to the Central Coast with a workshop guaranteed to bring out your inner Superstar with a Vogue Dance workshop for 12–24-year-olds. The most popular dance move on RuPauls Drag Race, “the death drop” Voguing was made popular by Madonna in the 1990s who was inspired by the dance originally started by LGBTIQA+ communities of colour and we can think of no better host space to launch the dance workshops than Gudjagang Ngara li-dhi , Aboriginal organisation who’s mission is “Listen to the Children”.  Ultimately, voguing is about the freedom to express your truest self, to tell your story and perform any identity you want. The workshop will cover the essence of Ballroom Vogue, Vogueing foundations and multiple other categories including “runway”, and “face” for a taste of ballroom” as well as hosting a mini ball moment at the end! No experience or knowledge required this is the space to learn some moves. All youth 12-24 welcome but must be registered to participate.  https://naughtynoodle.com.au/whats-on/vogue/

The YAAS Party (Young, Authentic And Social) is where we can dress to express ourselves and spend the night celebrating with other beautiful rainbow youth and their friends, DJ, shows, makeup both, have a dance & watch some shows  – Every teen is welcome here.  We are a Safe space for everyone and will have free Pizza & soft drinks & a pop-up makeup booth for party transformation’s, Spaces to get changed into costume & a chill out.

Creative director Glitta Supernova said “I remember the power of finally finding my “people” There’s was nothing better than finding community. It gave me a sense of belonging, of not being alone anymore & helped build my confidence & gave me a safe space to explore my identity & creativity without judgement. It’s like finding a logical family & those connections I made then were very special & followed me into adult life.”
