Rent becomes the Latest Musical to go from the Opera House to the Art House
As shows being to return at reduced capacity and social distancing, The Art House is determined to continue forging its path of bringing the headlines of metropolitan Aussie theatre to our own neighbourhood.
Marking the 25th anniversary of the original production, that spent 12 years on Broadway, this version will come to the Central Coast directly from its opening run at The Sydney Opera House in February.
The 90s rock musical by Jonathan Larson is loosely based on Puccini’s La Boheme. It follows a group of young artists in New York City 1991 as they try to create their place, and their living, in a neighbourhood in gentrification and against the dark backdrop of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
This Australia production stars Seann Miley Moore (The UK version of The X-Factor) and Callum Francis (Kinky Boots) as the latest cast to take on the Tony Award winning and Pulitzer Prize winning story.
After a year of social, physical, and emotional turmoil, this tale about living in the moment, facing adversity, and finding community is more relevant than ever. The production is sure to bring people back together to bond over this much-loved story.
“In dangerous times where the world is ripping apart at the seams, we can learn from those who stare death in the face every day, by reaching out to each other and bonding as a community.” Jonathan Larson, 1996.
