New Nature Playspace at Kincumber

Council has built a new nature inspired playspace at Pinyari Close Reserve, Kincumber for local families to play and connect with their neighbours.

The new local level playspace was designed to complement the surrounding nature reserve with ropes and natural timbers creating spaces for kids to climb, balance and use their imaginations. A continuous pathway provides a perfect surface for scootering though the reserves under the canopy of mature trees, linking in with the picnic tables and through to the adjoining residential streets.

This playspace was funded by the Australian Government under the Community Development Grants Program.

Mayor Lisa Mathews said Council manage and maintain over 260 playspaces throughout our region offering a variety of play destinations for short and extended visits catering to a range of abilities and ages.

"Federal Government funding has enabled us to deliver an easy to access, beautiful new park and play area for the local Kincumber community to enjoy," Mayor Matthews said.

Federal Member for Robertson, Lucy Wicks MP first heard about Pinyari Park after reading a letter from Nina, a then 12-year-old from the Kincumber community, who wanted to see the swings replaced at her local park.

"After meeting with Nina and her mother Anna, I was pleased to receive her petition with over 300 signatures from other local families and young people," Mrs Wicks said.

"During the 2019 election the Federal Government committed $90,000 to see this vision become reality. Today I am delighted to see the park completed and officially open for Nina and all the generations of young people in Kincumber to enjoy.

"This recreational space was truly a community lead and called for initiative. I was proud to work so closely with local residents to see this park come to life."
