Entries for the Mental Health Art Works! Exhibition Closing Soon

Entries for the 2020 Mental Health Art Works! Exhibition close this Sunday, 30 August. The exhibition, organised by local not-for-profit Central Coast Primary Care, is an 8-day exhibition held during Mental Health Month in October. Celebrating creativity and Mental Health; the exhibition provides a platform for local people to enter artworks in a range of mediums and share their story.

Central Coast Primary Care’s CEO, Michelle Bradbury, says “There’s still time to get your entry form in. Entry forms are due by this Sunday 30 August, but your artwork doesn’t need to be ready until early October.”

Entrants do not need to be professional artists. To be eligible to enter the exhibition, artists must have a lived experience of mental illness, either as an individual, or as a family member, friend or carer, of an individual with a lived experience.

The exhibition provides an opportunity for people to share their story through a range of mediums, including painting, sculpting, drawing, ceramics, photography, or writing. The exhibition allows those whose lives have been affected by mental illness the opportunity to use art as a form of expression and engage the community in a better understanding of mental health issues.

The exhibition will be held from 14-20 October at the Community Gallery at Gosford Regional Gallery.

“We are working closely with the gallery to plan this years event to COVID Safe Standards. We will be reviewing these in the lead up to the event. The health and safety of the community is our priority.” Bradbury says
