CROWD FUNDING CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCED
COAST LIFE is a fundraising event for North Entrance Surf Club. They need to raise funds for much needed safety and lifesaving equipment.
The goal is for all ticket, bar and raffle sales to go to the Surf Club’s fundraising efforts.
The hard productions costs are $8,000 which need to be covered before profits can start going to the fundraising efforts.
A funding application was submitted in January but the outcome announcement has been delayed to only four days prior to the event, and though some generous local businesses have come on board, not enough sponsorship has been raised to cover the costs in the event the funding application is unsuccessful.
There is significant difficulty in getting a maiden event over the line in a state of economic uncertainty. The other challenge is the late-buying market in which the events industry operates nowadays. It is difficult to budget for security, furniture, and food vendors can’t cater accurately with a lack of pre-purchases. This affects the budget and puts more strain on volunteer resources.
Event Manager Monique Hartman states, “We’re now calling on the Central Coast community to make a statement. How much do you value culture? How much to value community? How much do you value your local volunteer Life Guards? How much do you value art? Do you want these events in your backyard at an accessible price, or would you rather travel to Sydney and Newcastle and pay triple the price?
There are over 300,000 residents on the Central Coast. $8,000 is not a lot of money when we all pool resources. But this small event has the capability to make a huge impact and create a movement of sophisticated and interesting cultural activity never before seen on the Central Coast.
This event is the first in a series that is designed to use art and culture as platforms for positive change and community connection. I believe strongly that the Central Coast needs and wants a cultural shift and a new way of interacting with our region.
If we can make this first event successful as a community, I can guarantee I can give back to the community ten-fold - culturally and economically.”
