CLB3x3 Comes to the Central Coast for Sportsfest 2018
From Friday 21st September to Sunday 23rd September, athletes, spectators and families from all over the Central Coast region will converge at The Entrance District Sporting & Community Complex for the 2nd annual all-in sports event for the Central Coast region.
An event aimed at all ages & all abilities and a great way for people of the Central Coast to see all the different sports the region has to offer. "It is great to see that this year’s Sportfest will be representing basketball in a big way and we expect to see a real excitement surrounding the games and a large number of registrations come through,” said Matthew Skinner General Manager, Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium.
CLB3X3 have been engaged to bring the outdoor 3x3 set up to the SportFest. CLB’s 3 day event will combine elite sport with grassroots to bring you a festival of 3X3 action along with pre-registered games and free-for-all participation with 3 point shoot outs, slam dunk contests and mini clinics.
“We have been travelling around Australia now since 2014, aligning ourselves with key community organisers, councils, event owners and local sporting organisations to provide Junior and Open players with a 3X3 competition emerged in a festive and safe environment for families to attend (for free).
Councils and community stakeholders play a big part in what we do and we are very appreciative of the support we have received so far. We have seen a real growth over the last two years in 3X3 and now it is great to see a growth in the spectators that come and enjoy “the show” as well,” said General Manager of Champions League Basketball Matt Hollard.
Players can register to compete in a range of competitions over the weekend from a Corporate Cup held on the Friday from 6pm onwards at the Scholastic Stadium Terrigal, (a great way to network and keep fit) or as a Junior U13’s to U18’s player on the Saturday from 10.30am onwards and lastly as an Open or Elite player on the Sunday (same time) for their chance to win great prizes and world ranking points….or you might just want to come along as a spectator and enjoy the atmosphere and see the rising talent come out on top during the Finals each day.
Registrations start at $100 per team for the Juniors, $120 per team for the Opens, $150 for the Elite categories and Corporate Cup. All players who register will receive their very own limited edition CLB3X3 Jersey as a gift and memento of the event.
Players are required to set up their own profile via the www.play.fiba3x3.com and using the same website they can then register a team of 3-4 players per team. Simply search “Central Coast” to find our event or click the direct links below to find out more:

“I played 3-on-3 when I was a kid. It taught me how to play with a pick and roll game, how to guard that, how to play the high/low game, and how to work with your mates. It was non-stop – you’d score, they’d take the ball and you had to switch from offence to defence and be ready to play. 3-on-3 was always a fun part of basketball for me,” said Mitch Rueter, import player/coach of the Club Terrigal Central Coast Crusaders.
“You’ll probably see myself and some of the Club Terrigal Central Coast Crusaders boys playing at the CLB3X3. It’s an opportunity for us to have some post-Waratah season fun and test ourselves out in the new form of the game.”
Announced as the latest sport to be listed as an Olympic discipline for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and more recently as a discipline to replace 5-on-5 at all future Commonwealth Games - past, current and future basketball players now have another pathway in which they can play at a junior or elite level and even play for their country some day.
3X3 is simple and flexible enough to be played anywhere and by anyone. All you need is a hoop, a half-court and six players, the weekend provides a terrific chance to register with a few mates and give the sport a try for the very first time.
Central Coast Mayor, Jane Smith says that Council are proud to host SportsFest again this year and provide a free community event that promotes healthy living.
“SportsFest encourages residents of all ages and ability, to get connected and active in our sports community - through active participation, volunteering or spectator support,” Mayor Smith said.
"It’s also great that we can invest in an event that supports local businesses, groups and organisations that encourage active lifestyles.”
