Central Coast wins $355,000 to boost night-time economy
The Gosford Entertainment Precinct and The Esplanade Terrigal have secured $175,000 and $180,000 respectively to help transform their districts into vibrant, after-dark destinations that attract both locals and visitors.
This funding forms part of the NSW Government’s 24-Hour Economy Strategy, which supports the development of thriving going-out districts across the state.
Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna welcomed the announcement, saying the investment will help attract more visitors, support local businesses and celebrate the region.
“This funding is a fantastic opportunity to shine a spotlight on the Central Coast’s unique character – from Terrigal’s iconic waterfront dining to Gosford’s thriving arts and live music scene,” Mayor McKinna said.
“It’s about creating spaces where locals feel proud and visitors feel welcome. Congratulations to the Gosford Entertainment Precinct and The Esplanade, Terrigal – your vision and hard work in winning these grants is a game-changer for the Coast.
"We’re excited to see these districts come to life and lead the way for others across the region.”
24-Hour Economy Commissioner, Michael Rodrigues said the expansion of the program to the Central Coast, Greater Newcastle and Illawarra-Shoalhaven would highlight the unique offerings in these regions.
“We’re pleased to expand the Uptown Program, which has supported districts across Greater Sydney to tell their stories and showcase what they have to offer," Mr Rodrigues said.
“It’s great to see Terrigal’s iconic coastal centre and Gosford’s entertainment precinct teams coming together to uplift these iconic destinations on the Central Coast.”
The Gosford Entertainment Precinct and The Esplanade, Terrigal Uptown Districts will soon be featured on the NSW Government’s Neon Marketplace – a platform designed to support 24-hour economy operators to collaborate and thrive.
