Evacuation centres for owners of large animals in the Greater Sydney region have been established in response to today’s “catastrophic” fire danger forecast.

The following centres are now open, with more to be confirmed:

  • Hawkesbury Showground
  • Castle Hill Showground
  • Penrith Paceway
  • Elizabeth Park, Picton
  • Luddenham Showground
  • Tall Timbers Pony Club, Ourimbah
  • Central Coast Show Jumping Club at Mangrove Mountain
  • Pittwater Rugby Park in Warriewood
  • Frenchs Forest Show Ground, North Shore
  • Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park
  • Gosford Racecourse

Horse and animal owners are reminded that care of the animal including adequate food and water supply as well as full time supervision remains their responsibility once they arrive at the evacuation centre.

You are also asked to bring appropriate identification for your animals. Contact the Ag and Animal services hotline on 1800 814 647 if you need emergency assistance or contact Greater Sydney Local Land Services for advice.

Visit the NSW DPI Animals in emergencies website for advice and information on preparing your animals.
