A Portal to The NadRad Opens on the Central Coast

Central Coast based not-for-profit art collective The Crud Muffins open portal to The NadRad at The Entrance Gallery with support from Central Coast Council and Gosford Regional Gallery.

What is The NadRad exactly? Well, that’s precisely what The Crud Muffins collaborative art explores – a whimsical, multicoloured world inhabited by all manner of phantasmagorical characters and bizarre creatures who live in a realm limited only by your imagination!

The Crud Muffins began when a group of Central Coast friends started making art together in their living room because it was a fun thing to do. Silly squiggles of strange beings and vibrant landscapes turned into stories about a magical and expansive dimension called The NadRad. Before long collaborative doodles filled their homes from floor to ceiling and crept at an ever-increasing rate across every surface, with coffee tables and kitchen cabinets included!

Uplifted and compelled by the empowering and transformative capacity of the arts, The Crud Muffins set out to share their experience with the world. They began illustrating and gifting miniature zines for people to colour-in, setting up immersive installations at music festivals and facilitating all-ages collaborative artmaking in their rainbow gazebo at local community events such as Alive Plant Based Festival, Umina Beach markets and Art in the Park Wyong.

With almost all the events The Crud Muffins had lined up for 2020 cancelled and postponed due to COVID-19, the opportunity to open a portal to The NadRad at The Entrance Gallery was welcomed with enthusiasm by the local collective.

“We’ve had a lot of down time we hadn’t planned for so we’ve been making the most of it by creating new pieces for our ever-evolving immersive installation,” said one of The Crud Muffins. “We’re excited to finally be out in the community again connecting with people in person and are really grateful for the support we’ve received from Central Coast Council and Gosford Regional Gallery to bring the exhibition to life!”

Visitors will be free to explore The NadRad from the 3rd to the 25th of October, Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm at The Entrance Gallery. There will also be an array of creative workshops facilitated by local and guest artists as well as a pop-up shop with handmade items available for purchase to support the not-for-profit.

Be prepared for a visually stimulating explosion of rainbows and a load of whacky, weird, and wonderful delights like nothing the Central Coast has ever seen!
