A brand-new Australian production of the much-loved and revolutionary rock musical, HAIR will bring an all-star cast to the Central Coast this September.

Marking the 50th anniversary of the original Australian production, this exclusive six-venue-only tour is an exciting revival starring four-time Logie award winning TV and theatre star, Hugh Sheridan and Australian Idol star Paulini

The full cast has now been announced alongside the creative team with the sensational star of The Voice, Prinnie Stevens and exciting new-comer Matthew Manahan. A talented tribe of emerging Australian musical theatre stars, including the Central Coasts own Joe Kalou (In The Heights), make for a stellar cast to bring the iconic story and Grammy® Award-winning score back to the stage. Including the hit songs Aquarius, Good Morning, Starshine, Hair, I Got Life and Let The Sun Shine, audiences won’t be able to resist the nostalgia.

Producer, David M. Hawkins said, "After auditioning for three months and seeing over 800 artists, I am so pleased to be announcing this young, dynamic and exciting cast. Declan and the creative team have been working around the clock creating a new version of HAIR for these wonderful actors to embrace, and soon it will be time to share it with the country. What an honour to announce the cast on the 50th anniversary of it opening in Sydney in 1969; it is time to Let The Sun Shine In once again."

HAIR first opened at The Metro Theatre in Kings Cross in 1969, a divisive time, with young people passionate about issues like the environment, free-love and peace, and rebelling against the conservative mainstream. The arts pushed the boundaries, and HAIR was no exception. Fighting for freedom, human rights, the environment and peace in times of war, HAIR puts a mirror to today’s society and asks the question, how far have we really come?

The issues of 1969 are still relevant today, and although the perspective is different, passionate young people continue to push for progress against conservative views on gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights and climate change. HAIR is a timeless tale of revolution and radicalism.

The Art House is thrilled to be part of such a truly influential musical on this national tour.

WARNING this show contains: Full Frontal Nudity, Sexual References, Drug References, Racial Slurs and Strobe Lighting Effects.

“The musical that changed theatre forever” BBC

“A social and cultural phenomenon, a jubilant assertion of life and freedom” The Guardian
