Tuggerawong Public School
Your introduction to our school will be the beginning of long and eventful journey for your child and your family. We are confident that as time goes along you will feel that you and your child have a very important role in school life at Tuggerawong Public School.
We will care for the ‘whole’ child by offering excellent educational opportunities that are presented in a caring and positive environment.
The foundation of the success that your child will experience at Tuggerawong Public School is the strong partnership with parents and family members that we will endeavour to establish with you. Your commitment to be equally open to working collaboratively with our school personnel, will ensure that the environment surrounding your child is, at all times, filled with people who are working together. This will create a very special bond that we will share, and that bond is your child.
Our school motto of ‘participate with enthusiasm’ genuinely reflects the desire that we have to encourage everyone to be involved in the whole spectrum of school life. I encourage you to be involved as much and as often as you can. Come to P & C meetings, even one each term. These will provide a way for you to be knowledgeable about whole school issues and events. Take a turn on the School Council as it gives you a great opportunity to understand the whole school picture and involves meetings once a term. Come along and help out with reading, maths groups, craft groups, sports groups, working bees, curriculum nights, interviews with teachers and student led conferences. Join a committee, because your help (even one hour a week) can share the load and benefit all the children in our school community. There are lots of opportunities from which you can choose.
As soon as you are involved in any school activity your child will see that you place a value on what is happening in their school. As soon as you have established this, you have placed a value on education and your child will be much more easily engaged in learning.
We celebrate 50 years in 2007Tuggerawong School opened as a two teacher school, third class school, on the 29th January, 1957 with an enrolment of forty four pupils. Thirty four of these pupils had transferred from an overcrowded Wyong Public School and two from Kanwal Public School. Previously, local children had been transported by bus to Wyong.
The opening of the school was regarded as one of the major steps of progress for the Tuggerawong-Wyongah district and was achieved by a small but willing group of men and women who canvassed for numbers, and cleared and fenced the ground through voluntary working bees.
