Art Out of the Box
The Central Coast is understandably proud of locally founded not-for-profit group Take 3. They began spreading their message of ocean-environmental awareness here in 2009 and now reach right across the globe. Art Out of the Box is a unique community art event designed to help raise money to support their efforts.
As part of the Long Jetty Street Festival on November 20, artists from across the Central Coast are donating original works on 30cm x 30cm pieces of recycled cardboard. All the art, whether by a seasoned pro or a young up and comer, will be on display and for sale at the festival for the bargain price of $20. Yes, an original, hand made artwork for just $20!
However, there is a twist … in the lead up to the event each artwork will be featured on Art Out of the Box’s Instagram account and website, where the artist can nominate a higher ‘buy-it-now’ price from $50 up. So if someone loves a particular piece and is willing to pay the higher price, then they can contact Art Out of the Box to secure it before it becomes available for $20 on the festival day.
The event was conceived and is being run by Joe & Katherine Hall, founders of Artist Series — a local business endeavouring to make art more visible in the community.
